Actor Suriya: Modern day 'Sakalakala Vallavan'?

It looks like we have ourselves our contemporary 'Sakalakala Vallavan', for rumor mills are working overtime that Suriya Sivakumar will be seen in the remake of this yesteryear blockbuster that had Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan essay the lead role. It is said that when Suriya expressed his desire to remake this film through a production house, the makers of the original, AVM, refused to sell the remake rights and expressed their wish to remake the film shortly with Suriya on board! 'Sakalakala Vallavan' that released in 1982 saw Kamal Haasan in dual roles and was directed by SP Muthuraman and produced by AVM. The film had several hit songs and attained a cult status thanks to the novice script. An official announcement from the makers is expected to be made shortly. Suriya Remake for Kamal’s super hit?

There are reports roaming around the tinsel town saying Suriya is going to do the lead in the remake of Kamal Haasan’s 1982 super hit Sagalakala Vallavan. The makers, who had come up with the idea, had approached AVM, the producers of the original film, to get the rights.

But we hear that AVM themselves has come forward to produce the remake. Following these happenings, Suriya is also planning to allot bulk dates for the shoot of the film. An official list of cast and crew can be expected soon.

Gautham Menon confirmed Suriya for Thupariyum Anand

The handsome actor Suriya is busy shooting for his long waited movie Maatran with Kajal Agarwal. Latest we hear is Suriya has given his nod to do a movie with ace director Gautham Menon and the movie might go on floors in 2013. The duo has earlier given us hit films Kaakha Kaakha and Varanam Ayiram and looking forward to team up again. It is being reported that Suriya has stepped into the shoes of Ajith for this movie titled Thupariyum Anand, as Gautham Menon has penned this script for Ajith 2 years ago, which was signed initially but shelved due to unavoidable reasons. Gautham himself will produce Thupariyum Anand on his Photon Kathaas banner. Thupariyum Anand will start rolling some time in 2013, after Gautham completes his Yohan Adhyayam Ondru with Vijay. Meanwhile Suriya will complete KV Anand helming Maatran and Singam 2, the sequel of Singam with director Hari with Hansika as Suriya's love interest. Actor Suriya's Matraan Will Decide Gautham’s NEPV Release

Director Gautham Menon has said that Neethaane En Ponvasantham will hit the screens either in August or September but the exact date will be decided only after the release date of Suriya's Matraan is out. The ace director has said that he doesn't want NEPV to compete with the 'big Matraan' and hence is bidding his time for its release. On the film's audio launch, Gautham said that he is planning it to be held during the first week of July and there is a possibility of it being launched on July 1st. The date will be announced formally is a few days' time, he said. NEPV's music has been scored by maestro Ilayaraja and the film stars Jiiva and Samantha as the lead pair.

Venkat Prabhu to direct Suriya

Venkat Prabhu has earlier confirmed officially that he is going to do his next film with Suriya and it will be a 3D film. But latest is he has roped in Karthi to commence his next and the movie is titled as Biriyani. It is being touted that Karthi has replaced Suriya, but Venkat Prabhu clears the air saying "The 3D venture with Suriya as the lead is all alive and it will hit the floors after the star is done with his KV Anand's Maatraan and Singham 2 with Hari." Venkat Prabhu is all set to cook Biriyani from August, which has a tag line 'A Venkat Prabhu's Diet'. Kollywood tinsel town abuzz that Venkat Prabhu would rope in Samantha, Ileana or Parineeti Chopra to pair opposite Karthi in this comedy film. Yuvan Shankar Raja will be composing music tunes and BGM for Biriyani, while Sakthi Saravanan will take care of cinematography, Stunt by Silva and editing will be handled by Praveen KL among the technical crew.

Suriya & Lingusamy unveiled Saguni audio

Suriya and Lingusamy has unveiled the audio album of Karthi and Praneetha starrer Saguni today, in a grand event at Sathyam Cinemas. GV Prakash has beautifully composed the five songs for Saguni album, of which single track was released on 25th of May, on the occasion of Karthi's birthday. Shankar Dayal has wield the megaphone for this political satire Saguni that has grandly launched its audio album in the presence of Kollywood biggies Venkat Prabhu, Parthiban, Lingusamy, Suriya, GV Prakash et al along with Saguni team. Lyricists Na. Muthukumar has penned two of the songs for Saguni while others were scripted by Paramu, Vivega and Annamalai one each. P.G. Muthiah is the DOP for Saguni, A.
