Surya Rasikan: 'Maatran' audio Release in Singapore on August 9

Suriya’s KV Anand directed Maatraan produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram is all set to have its audio launch in Singapore most likely on August 9. It will be one of the biggest ever audio launches.

Maatran is an action entertainer scripted by writer Subha in which Suriya plays conjoined twins with Kajal Aggarwal as the heroine. The film has been in the news when Eros International snapped all rights of the film for a rumoured Rs 84 Crores.

The Telugu distribution rights were sold to Bellamkonda Suresh's Multi-Dimensional Films for a record price of 17 crores. The overseas rights had gone more than a year back for a reported Rs 12 Crore.

The audio has been bagged by Sony Music for a record price said to be around Rs 1.20 Crore, the single biggest audio deal in recent times. Maatran is the coming together of Harris Jayaraj- KV Anand - Suriya, whose Ayan music was a chartbuster. Suriya and Harris from their Khakka Khakka days have always delivered chartbusters.

The film’s Telugu dubbing rights were sold for Rs 18 Crore, the single highest deal after Rajinikanth’s Endhiran. The star has an audience among the youth and family, which is his calling card at the box-office.


Suriya may not be the in-your-face superstar because he doesn’t want to be one. He is a very private person and keeps to himself. The actor plans to celebrate his birthday with family consisting of his wife Jyothika, and two kids Diya and Dev.

Meanwhile Suriya fans are planning to celebrate his birthday by holding blood donation camps, distributing uniform and books to the needy students.

1 Bollywood& 1 South African as villains in Singam 2!

The new trend in Kollywood is to have villains imported from Bollywood and from foreign lands.

The bad guys in Ajith’s Billa 2- Vidyut Jamwal, Sudhanshu Pandey were instant hits with the Tamil audiences.

Now director Hari is getting two deadly villains, to take on Suriya in Singam 2. They are the popular Bollywood and Tollywood bad guy Mukesh Rishi and a new actor from Cape Town in South Africa.

Mukesh Rishi had acted as villain opposite Vijayakanth in Vallarasu and had done innumerable villain roles in various Telugu mass masalas.

Hari will be flying to south Africa to do an audition and select an actor to play the all-important pivotal villain role.

Singam 2 has Suriya, Anushka and Hansika in lead roles with Devi Sri Prasad providing the music.

Kajal`s dates go awry, Maatran delayed!

Kajal Aggarwal is currently the busiest star in south cinema who is also making forays into Bollywood. She is hot at the moment in Telugu and Tamil and has no dates to spare.

In Tamil Kajal is doing two biggies – Maatranwith Suriya and Thupakki with Vijay simultaneously. Both the films due for release have got delayed, due to lack of Kajal`s dates.

It happens when you do too many films at the same time. Kajal is doing two Tamil and two Telugu films in various stages of shoot and a Hindi film. Due to cancellation and delay in shoots of these films her dates got messed up resulting in all round delay.

KV Anand, the director of Maatran has been waiting for days to shoot the last romantic song in the film which will have Suriya and Kajal. It was to be shot abroad but the director has now decided to shoot it in a Chennai studio some time in August.

Wanted, twins to play Suriya`s younger days!

Suriya`s Maatran one-minute teaser has created a stir. 

KV Anand the director of the film has shown its USP- Suriya playing conjoined twins, which has become a hit on the net.

Now the latest we hear is that Anand is planning to shoot some montage shots of the younger days of the conjoined twins. The director has tweeted – "We have some montages of younger Suriya in Maatran. You can help us by suggesting your friends or relatives who have twins, preferably in and around Chennai that need to show Suriya`s character (s) in his younger days."

The director has also made it clear that the twins should have Suriya`s complexion and facial features. The shoot of these sequences would take place in a Chennai studio from July 19 to 24.

Actor Suriya to rock as Vimalan and Akilan in Maatraan

Finally director K V Anand has revealed the secret about Maatran. Yes, the first look and teaser of the movie was released in Chennai. Suriya plays a conjoined twins(Vimalan and Akilan) in the movie, being produced by AGS Entertainment. Speaking at the event, Anand said, ' the Ayan team includingh Suriya, Harris Jayaraj, Suba and myself are back. Maatran will be more special for it is a Suriya's special. He plays a conjoined twin which is no easy task. The effort an actor has to put for two films is what Suriya has given for Maatran'. He said the idea to do a movie on conjoined twin was in his mind for a long time and was waiting for an appropriate time. It needed a strong technical backing and a huge production cost. Thanks to AGS Entertainments, it has become a reality'. On his part, Suriya heaped laurels on Anand for coming up with an innovative story. He said, ' whenever I felt whether I could pull it off, Anand gave me the courage. It was a challenging role and I enjoyed the experience'. Suriya plays two contrasting characters. While Vimalan of the conjoined twin is a soft-spoken youth with communist ideology, Akilan if a fun-loving freaky youth. Anand said, 'plans are on to release the audio soon, while the movie Will be released once the huge computer graphic works are completed'. Suriya plays conjoined twins in ‘Maatran’!

The first look teaser of Suriya's KV Anand directed Maatran produced by AGS Entertainment was unveiled on Wednesday (July 11) evening at Prasad Lab preview theatre.

Suriya's plays conjoined twins Akilan and Vimalan in the film. Says KV Anand : "Suriya has done four films in one. He took a lot of trouble doing each shot separately as the Siamese twin's body language was different. I read about the Thai Siamese twins in an National Geographic magazine while on a flight with director Shankar after Sivaji song shoot. An idea evolved from that to make a film on Siamese twins and when Suriya heard the story during the making of Ayan he wanted to do it."

Anand denies that the film is inspired from any Hollywood or Thai film. There have been rumours that Maatran and Priyamani's Charulatha on conjoined twins are similar. Anand clarified that he had seen the Thai film Alone which is being officially adapted by producers of Charulatha, and he found no similarity with Maatran.

Suriya in his speech said: "Hats off to KV Anand. His research, preparation and the way he had planned each shot was so perfect. All the crew and artist who worked on the film enjoyed every day of the shoot. It was a great learning experience."

Maatran shoot is over except for a song. The audio of the film which has music by Harris Jayaraj will be launched in a couple of days. Anand says he will take time along with VFX supervisor Srinivas Mohan to complete the post-production graphic works of the film. The producers refused to give a pucca release date and it looks like the film will come only September end.

Those present at the teaser launch were producer Kalpathi S Aghoram, Rangarajan CEO of AGS, writer Subba, VFX supervisor Srinivas Mohan, make-up Banu, editor Antony, cameraman Soundarrajan, stunt master Peter Hein and others associated with the film.

Harris confirms 'Maatran' audio in July

One of the most eagerly awaited audios is Suriya’s KV Anand directed Maatran which has music by Harris Jayaraj. 

Remember the last time the trio of Suriya-Harris-Anand came together in Ayan, the film and music went on to become a blockbuster.

Today (July 2) Harris Jayaraj has tweeted – “Final mixing for the songs of Maatran on process. Album will be out by this month. Good day!” It clearly means Maatran due for release on August 15, is on schedule.

A few weeks back we had reported that Sony Music has taken the audio rights ofMaatran produced by AGS Entertainments at a record price. 

The buzz is that a few days of shoot has to be completed and the film due to its graphics may take time over post-production and release may happen only in September.

Kajal Agarwal’s Maatran Movie Shooting Stopped

Paired opposite Kollywood star Surya, gorgeous actress Kajal Agarwal is currently busy shooting in the U.S. for her upcoming bilingual movie " Maatran". However, the actress got the much needed break from her itinerary as her current shooting schedule has been canceled. Reports say that the shooting of "Maatran" was supposed to start from June 22 but director KV Anand had to push back the shooting since the locations he finalized were not ready for shooting and the crew was not prepared either. As a result, KV had to cancel the schedule and the unit will resume shooting after 10 days. Perhaps these unscheduled breaks could give Kajal a reprieve as she's busy shooting for 5 big ticket films in Telugu and Tamil. Kajal will be heading back to Mumbai and after a good rest; she will join the "Maatran" team. Harris Jayaraj is composing the music for this film, which is produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram.
